Hypnotherapy

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a bit like daydreaming - where you're neither asleep nor awake but feel pleasantly relaxed, it's a different state of consciousness that you can pass into quite naturally. Hypnosis is a way of making contact with our inner self, our unconscious, which is both a reservoir of our unrecognised potential as well as maybe the unwitting source of many of our problems.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is using the state of hypnosis with psychotherapy to treat a variety of medical and psychological problems. It is estimated that 85% of people will respond at some level to clinical hypnotherapy. It may even succeed where other more conventional methods of treatment have not produced the desired result. When carried out by a trained and qualified hypnotherapist the benefits can be long lasting and often permanent. It is natural and safe, with no harmful side effects.

In hypnotherapy the critical faculties of the conscious mind such as analysis and synthesis of information, are sidestepped (through the hypnotic condition) and new ideas and 'suggestions' placed directly into the uncritical unconscious to bring on beneficial changes when back in the waking state.

What kinds of issues can hypnotherapy help with?

Smoking, nail biting, anxiety, weight management and healthy eating, improving performance at work, at study or sporting performance, boost self-confidence and achieving potential, phobias, compulsions, emotional problems, sleep problems, inhibitions, worries, reduce stress, tension and blood pressure, tinnitus, stomach problems, IBS, skin problems, stammering, pain control, dentistry, arthritic pains, aches and pains, some sexual problems...

Put simply, where your problem is due to habitual conditioning (habit formation), accumulated stress or unresolved events in your past then hypnotherapy can be used to access and reprogramme these complex issues at the unconscious level.

What to Expect in the Session

A session generally lasts 50 minutes, except the first session which may last up to an hour and a half.I will ask about your presenting problem and together we will decide on the target outcome for your treatment. The length of treatment will be discussed (whether one session or several). In the first session I will take a 'case history' of the circumstances and history of the particular problem you need help with to help with the formulation of a treatment strategy.

I will explain the process of hypnosis and how it is used in hypnotherapy to help you make changes to your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. We will do some hypnotherapy for relaxation in the first session to allow you to feel what it is like to experience hypnosis so that you can then engage with further sessions of  hypnotherapy feeling relaxed and comfortable with the process.

Fees

For "Stop smoking " it is a two hour session with a follow up session two weeks later and the cost is £175 for the whole treatment.

For other issues, a number of sessions may be required and these are charged as follows;

session 1 £65 subsequent sessions £60
